WE DID IT!! 51 is saved! |
Save the 51 bus |
Thank you to everyone who has supported this campaign. The great news is that we have won a new 51 service that will start on the 4th September. Local councillors Gary Hopkins and Tim Kent negotiated a new service between Wessex Buses and Bristol City Council. This will be a full service and we will put up details of the timetable and ticketing as soon as we have it. With nearly 4000 people having signed the petition in just over 2 weeks the message was clear. We are very thankful for the help from local councillors Harriet Clough, Chris Davies, Gary Hopkins and Tim Kent who led this fight. We also thank the thousands of you who have displayed posters, collected signatures, delivered leaflets, attended the demo or signed the petition. Together we won.

We are campaigning to save the 51 Bus service in Bristol from being withdrawn on the 4th September. First Bus announced on July 30th that they would be withdrawing the 51 bus service that currently runs from the South Bristol Hospital through Whitchurch, Hengrove and Knowle into the city centre.
Many areas will be left with no bus service while others will have fewer options and will find their access to Broadwalk cut. Services on the Wells Road during peak times are already crowded. This decision will mean many commuters will now not be able to get on local buses. |
